Sexual Assault Counseling

Sexual Assault Counseling

The YWCA of Silicon Valley Rape Crisis Center offers both individual and group counseling for those affected by sexual assault and abuse. Many survivors find it helpful to work individually with a counselor. Our sexual assault counselors are trained in dealing with all aspects of sexual abuse, its impact and the healing process.

Our services include individual confidential counseling sessions for survivors and their friends and/or family members. These 50-minute sessions are free of charge, by appointment as needed. Up to 8 sessions are offered at a choice of three locations, the YWCA downtown San Jose, in our Mountain View counseling office, or at the Stanford University Rape Crisis Center. Additional counseling services following the 8 sessions are available from our YWCA Counseling Services Department.

Through YWCA of Silicon Valley support groups, survivors of sexual violence and their friends and families can find the comprehensive services they need so they can pick up the pieces and rebuild their lives. Groups give survivors the opportunity to continue the healing process with other survivors who have had similar experiences. Support groups can help break through the isolation that is common among survivors. Our groups provides counseling and education in a safe, nurturing environment.

These support groups are free of charge, meet for 10 sessions, and are held at locations in San Jose and Mountain View.
